Force Friday Coverage: Toys R Us Times Square
Toys R Us is Destination: Star Wars, and exciting events are happening at the Times Square flagship store to celebrate Force Friday.
The new toys from The Force Awakens do not go on sale until midnight tonight, but the Times Square Toys R Us in New York City has had plenty to keep Star Wars fans busy during the interminable wait. The enormous Times Square location was buzzing with activity Thursday, September 3, with fun activities for fans of all ages. We covered the events in our photo gallery.
Rancho Obi-Wan has curated special displays to celebrate the midnight opening, charting the four-decade history of Star Wars toys and games. Steve Sansweet, President & CEO of Rancho Obi-Wan (and collector extraordinaire), is joining in the Force Friday fun with a book signing and special VIP panel. The exhibits run through Monday, September 7, so be sure to check it out. For those that can’t make it, we have full coverage of the classic items on display, including rare items such as Kenner’s Early Bird set, Micro Collection, and Droids A-wing Fighter.
LEGO has created a special life-sized First Order Stormtrooper, seen on display for the first time in the LEGO section of the store.
SMS Audio was also there to show off their new wave of Star Wars-themed headphones, including designs based on Darth Vader, Chewbacca, R2-D2, and the TIE Fighter.
Check out our full photo gallery to see more shots, including the impressive Disney Infinity and Spin Masters Legendary Yoda displays, as well as fun Star Wars signs around the store.
