BEWARE: Walmart is not conducting a typical Internet Presale!!!!
I love walmart, I go there very often because you can beat their prices…but their definition of a preorder is wrong…
I ordered two of the Gunships…happy with my purchase I went off to bed. I woke to an e-mail indicating that they could not process my credit card and it was declined. Declined? I was confused, there is was a balance of $1,700+ in my bank account and yes I was using my Gold Visa Check card…
So I wrote to their customer service and asked why the card was declined and why in hell were they trying to charge my credit card for an item that was 2 1/2 months away from delivery…
I called customer service because there was no reply and they told me the reason why my card was declined was because I had entered the wrong expiration date…no problem, I said and gave her the correct one…then I asked why they were charging my card…she said that they “run” the card to make sure the funds are there…I said of course the funds are there…she asked if it was a debit card and I said yes…She then proceeded to tell me that the charge (even though they will not charge you until delivery) will be withheld from your account…so it will appear as you have been charged and the 80+ dollars will be held on your account…I said “WHAT?” NO one does this like that…they take the number and you get charged when they ship…she proceeded to tell me this is standard practice…I said “UH NO IT’S NOT” I have completed hundreds if not thousands of pre-orders from Amazon, EEarth, CD-Now, and all other places…not a one “held” the funds of my account, either debit or true credit card.
I cancelled the order and told them that I would place the order closer to the delivery date…no way am I going to let someone collect interest on my money for 2 1/2 months…let alone hide it from me…
I plan to call Walmart back and request to speak with a supervisor and ask that they verify this….
Does this make sense to any one else?
