• EP 1 & 2 AREN’T Star Wars

  I can’t be the only one to see things this way, but there are almost no connections between the Original Trilogy and these new pretend Star Wars movies.

  Sure, you got Obi-Wan, the droids, and Anakin. And even Anakin is pushing the limit. Where are the connections? I had so many expectations seeing EP1 & 2. The best connection between the old and new movies was the cut scene with Greedo as a kid. That was classic. But there are no scenes directly connecting the trilogies together.

  In EP2, we see some Falcons sitting on the Naboo landing platform. Why treat them as hidden-and-you-have-to-look-quick-to-see-them? Why not have them in plain sight, in more of an action mode? Taking off or landing or something more significant than “hey look at me! I’m sitting here doing nothing!”

  We need more of a connection to the Original Trilogy than what we’ve been given. Bottom line is that it’s like a complete and different Trilogy that is just an early adventure of Obi-Wan. Nothing to do with Han, Luke & Leia.

  Now there are many rumors about the OT having the Final Editions with new footage (John Williams confirmed he’s rescoring ANH) and that the reworked OT movies will tie up any loose connections. I’m not a purist and don’t want the movies toyed with too much, in fact I welcome it. But don’t over do it and make it the Star Wars: CGI Edition.
  Yes, the movies were made 20 years apart and filmmaking has made leaps and bounds in the special effects department but they should have stayed closer to the original special effects techniques.

  But the way-too-many CGI characters/situations totally show two different movie trilogies that have nearly nothing to do with each other. Han Solo is the star of 4,5,6. I could see them not having him in Ep1, but for such an important character just to be presented out of the blue with no background (except for the little Jabba bit) makes no sense.

  Simply put, these new movies lack the fun excitement and magic that the OT movies had.

  Bottom line George: rework EP1 and EP2, and make sure EP3 has more and legitimate links to the Original Trilogy.
