Goodbye to my friends…
Today I received three separate e-mails and one phone call from friends who are so disgusted with the backward mentality of America. All of them have been granted asylum in Canada as they were amongst the first.
Unfortunately, the country is going to be losing 10 good people who would have been able to make a difference in the future. There are two families moving, one couple and a single person.
When asked “what is morality to you” by a news reporter, several people said “go to church and read the Bible.” If that isn’t an uninformed mind speaking, I really don’t know what is. Apparently war and the denial of equal rights is moral.
So… I’m sad that my friends are moving to Canada. I’m sure we’ll be losing many more good people to our friends up north. If things don’t turn around in this country within the next decade, I’ll probably be leaving too.
What a shame. This country started out so well, too. Freedom of religion… Freedom of speech… No tyranny or oppression… A country and a government for ALL the people… *sigh*
