I waited in line for about an hour today for Star Wars. It wasn’t to get in to the movie, rather, to get my copy of the EP2 novel signed by R.A. Salvatore.

He came to the BYU bookstore today in Provo, UT and signed for about 2 hours in the midday. It was totally worth the wait. He was really nice, signed multiple books if you had them, and would write whatever you wanted in the book. I went the cheesy route and had him write “May The Force Be With You” above his signature.

My friend and I asked him about writing the book (it took 3 months for the first draft), about the revisions (quite a few), and how he got picked for the job. Lucasfilm has an agreement with DelRey to publish the movie and EU books. They gave Lucas a list of their authors and he ended up picking Salvatore.

We asked some other questions and kidded with him for a few minutes. He was a really friendly guy. I was on such a high all day long (from smelling the book ink :) ). Check his website for other dates around the country (I think the URL is http://www.rasalvatore.com). If you can swing it, get a book signed. He was doing EP2, Vector Prime, and his non-SW books.

I didn’t get to go to C2, but this was a good consolation prize.
