I hope nobody minds that I started a new thread for the upcoming Star Wars Spin-Off.
I just want to avoid spoilers in the other Black Series threads for those who are sensitive.

But recently there were a bunch of “codenames” that leaked out for upcoming 6″ figures. It turns out these codenames weren’t for TFA figures but for the upcoming Rogue One figures. Since the codenames match up. The following news and names were posted a while back on JediTempleArchives.

The Black Series Episode 7 Shark Trooper
The Black Series Episode 7 Blue Seal Communicator
The Black Series Episode 7 Seal Droid
The Black Series Episode 7 Green Seal Leader

    More ambiguously named characters:
Tertiary Hero Droid (Note: This Could be the upcoming TFA C-3PO)
    Shark Leader
    Shark Trooper Yellow

Here is a little on the codenames for various factions and what they might tell us about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story:

Felicity Jones’ character is codenamed Green Seal Leader by the production.
Seal Communicator Blue is Jiang Wen’s character (the guy with the red armor on behind Donnie Yen in the cast photo).
Eel Commander is Forest Whitaker’s character. This faction destination has led me to speculate he’s a bounty hunter affiliated character.
Seal Droid is Alan Tudyk’s character. (A Commando Droid)
The bad guys have codenames related to sharks.
The factions when coded amount to seals, eels, and sharks.

Hopefully “Shark Leader” is Grand Moff Tarkin. Since he’s supposed to be the primary baddy of Rogue One.

Since they talked about CGI to recreate him from footage of ANH and how difficult his boots were.

I’m also hoping that like with Asty: X-Wing Pilot they give him a different sculpt instead of reusing Hux.

So Tudyk is a droid. I’d read he’s going to be a CG character, and kind of assumed it’d be an alien.

A poster by the name of “Marvelous” from Toy Ark posted that there were some 6″ and 4″ figures for Rogue One on display at the Nuremberg Toy Fair and gave a little bit of info. Hopefully this means we’ll see them at the New York Toy Fair as well. I’ll stick the 4″ stuff in here also…. but feel free to start a new thread if you want.

    Quote:
Star Wars: Rogue One 6″ Black Series were shown. Main heroine, main antagonist (looks like Admiral Thrawn, but without blue skin. Black droid (Assuming RO). Also ANH Leia and TFA C-3PO.

3,75″ Rogue One vehicles. Starfighter, a new kind of Tie fighter (flat wings shaped kinda like those of an Interceptor. AT-AT with mobile app enhanced control and firing Nerf darts (Smalelr than Vintage Collection). Many new 3,75″ figures for TFA, OT,PT and RO.

Banner for Rogoue One with a big shot of Darth Vader.

No Rogue One stuff at Toy Fair in the states.

Like last year I bet they save anything major for Comic Con.

When I first saw the “shark” designation, I wondered if it was Finn’s codename. :D

Last year was an odd roll out, with the only Hasbro TFA product reveals at SDCC being the Black Series TIE Fighter and First Order Stormtrooper in exclusive packaging. They also showed some 6″ Black Series figures that are only just now starting to hit, including Ahsoka, Kanan, Jango, and farmboy Luke.

We didn’t get official confirmation of anything else TFA prior to release on Force Friday, other than what was shown in that unboxing event. But leaks had shown almost all of it by that point.

The lack of Rogue One at NY Toy Fair points to them doing a similar rollout this year.

That story rang pretty false to me. It’s entirely possible that Tarkin will be in the film, and recreated through CGI similar to what we’ve seen in Ant-Man, but there’s no reason that his boots should be difficult. They can make alien creatures come to life and destroy entire star systems, but they can’t make boots since Peter Cushing’s were too tight that he didn’t wear them for close-ups?

Jedi News has a rumor list for the first wave for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story 6″ Black Series.

    Quote:
Today we can bring you exclusive news on what is rumoured to be in wave one of this years Rogue One launch line-up from Hasbro, “Force Friday” on 30th September.

The following 6″ figures will be released::

    Rey / BB-8 (Re-Pack)
    Kylo Ren (new mould)
    Rogue One: Jyn Erso
    Rogue One: Stormtrooper
    Medical Droid
Rogue One: “Seal Team Male” – Forest Whitaker’s character.

Keep checking back on Jedi News over the course of the weekend as we will bring you all the details on further future waves and products.

Looks like they won’t be doing the entire focus on Rogue One like they did for Force Awakens.

Which makes sense. There’s a lot of normal human characters so far in Rogue One.

As for the non-Rogue One figures… hopefully Kylo Ren is unmasked. And Medical Droid is 2-1B.

My guess is that the droid is the one being played by Alan Tudyk. First waves have to be packed with sure sellers, and I sadly don’t see 2-1B being well known enough for that to happen (no matter how much he rocks).

Interesting that they’d be repacking Rey alongside sorta-similar-looking Jyn Erso, but she’s still selling so well that it’s probably a good call.

And I wonder if they’ll just repack the existing stormtrooper or do a more accurate one without the holster, as seen in the new film.

It doesn’t have the Rogue One note on it though. And that droid isn’t a Medical Droid either. But maybe.

If they repack 6″ Rey, then they need to include her lightsaber; but I really doubt they will.

JediNews followed up with rumors for wave 2 and wave 3.

    Wave 2
    Leia
    Empire Commander R1
    Stormtrooper R1
    EP7 C3PO
    Shadow Trooper R1
    Jyn Erso R1 (Re-Pack)

    Wave 3
    Darth Revan
    Stormtrooper R1
    AT-AT Driver
    Episode 5 Obi-Wan
    Episode 5 Snowtrooper
    Sabine Wren

Hasbro has confirmed ANH Leia, TFA C-3PO, Darth Revan, AT-AT Driver, ESB Snowtrooper, and Sabine. ANH Obi-Wan has been rumored for some time.

I doubt it will be an ESB Obi-Wan, but their image shows his ghost on Dagobah.

I find it a little doubtful that they’ll barely be scratching the surface with Rogue One in this line. Maybe the original, compressed timeline, with Episode VIII planned for release five months later, made them cut down on the number of Rogue One figures.

I wonder if they are going to simply rerelease the existing 6″ Stormtrooper for the Rogue One Stormtrooper or if they will sculpt an entirely new figure?

I was never happy with the look of the 6″ Stormtrooper, so I’m really hoping for an entirely new version. No matter how unlikely that seems. If it’s just a repack, then it’s a pass for me.

It looks like the Rogue One stormtrooper armor is clearly based on ANH, but with some small upgrades to make them easier to wear and move around in. The biggest difference is the lack of a holster, but Hasbro has been known to add holsters where there were none originally. Whether these changes will be reflected on the merchandise will be interesting.

Hmm. I think I’ll save some money. An unmasked Kylo interests me the most. I will get C-3PO Obi-Wan

I found Wave 1 at Walmart on the shelves today. I went to check out and their system said they could not sell them yet.
