Are these...are these...Action Fleets? In disguise?

If so, why are some $19.95 and others $9.95 I wonder? Is there $10 of material/size/detail difference between all the cheaper and more expensive ones? Why not make them all $14.95 for the discrepancy?

I am confused...

But they DO look good.

Ordering the Star Destroyer now :D

Yes, these are the equivalent of Action Fleet! They are the same size, but are die cast vehicles just like the last round of "deluxe" vehicles that they did a few years ago. For me "Action Fleet" has always been about the scale, but for some other collections "Action Fleet" has always been about the play features. If you're a collector with the the same mindset as me, then these are the ships you are looking for!

I saw some of these at the Disney Store yesterday at noon, and I've been keeping my eye on this line since it premiered not that long ago (a year, year and a half?) with the OT stuff. Disney Store had only the TFA vehicles, and moved a lot of product judging by the empty shelf space.

No TFA X-wings at all, those were gone, too popular.

A couple Rey's Speeder, this thing looks pretty nice, I think it's probably the better buy than the Hasbro Titanium Series 3" even (no rider, and it's not ridiculously small the way the Hasbro piece is), good paint too.

They had a number of the FO Snowspeeder, this was the first time the vehicle looked good to me, not great because the design is kinda blah, but ok, and Disney put a lot into the paint and sculpt on it, satisfying for the price.

They had several of the Special Forces TIE Fighter but I didn't see any regulars, this looked ok, what can you really say about the TFA TIE Fighter really? It didn't look like there was interior detailing through the window, but I didn't study it. The TIEs had the most paint slop, and even that was surprisingly minimal.

Just 1 of the FO Command Shuttle, and it has slide-in wing tops, it's displayed with the wings fully deployed though so the box is a big empty nothing for the most part, kind of bad planning there. The paint and sculpt seemed like there was a lot of detail going on, even underneath, although i'm not remotely a fan of its design.

So, my overall conclusion is that these look pretty good and have more paint, better paint, and nice sculpting, moreso even than the previous vehicles in the Disney Store line. They'll fit in well with an Action Fleet collector's setup.

I nabbed a Star Destroyer, both TIES and the 2 new XWings.

Been a looooong time since I sold my Action Fleet stuff (all but the Virago). I miss the scale. Kinda wish I never sold them. Ah well- got me through the end of my 2nd college degree. Now if only I could afford to pick them all up again. Lol

I got my Die-Casts a while back, and, well, I am a little disappointed. While the Star Destroyer looks great, there is no stand in the packaging. So it just kinda sits there on it's bulb on the bottom. It's sad.

The Die-Cast TFA TIE's and X-Wings are pretty good though- but the cockpits really are not made to open- no detail in them at all. I can't open the TIE one's- they are glued perma-shut. What an oddball choice?

Sorry to hear about that fall, glad they didn't break at least.

I think for now, maybe building a stand out of black LEGO is the cheapest way to go, $10-$20 per stand is unacceptable.

I finally got around to opening up my Resistance X-wing and sadly, have to express some disappointment with it. While the sculpt and details are solid, quite a few QC issues are plaguing this for me. For starters, the nose of the fighter is not fused completely leaving some exposed space between the upper and lower halves of the fighter body. Also, the paint apps aren't so great as there are stray streaks of blue here and there. The worst aspect though are the landing gears as they are just 3 rubbery pieces that you slot into holes on the bottom. Your mileage will vary on this but one of the gears won't stay in the slot very well.

So in summary, diecast notwithstanding, I have to say that the Action Fleet X-wing is superior to the Disney X-wings.

I picked up the Resistance X-wing at Disneyland on Friday, and have different problems. I had to be picky, because every single one I saw had serious problems in-package. The nose on mine is fused fine, but the lower right cannon was glued on wrong and then forced into position anyway, causing it to be bent and sticking out quite a bit. If that weren't bad enough, the insert on the engine didn't get glued in all the way so the S-foils don't close on one side all the way. And even though the paint on mine is the best I could find, there are still a few smears. The gear on mine stay in but just barely, as you mentioned.

That said, I'm going back next week so I'll return it for a different one, I guess.

So, the sculpt is good but not up to Action Fleet snuff, it's soft in places and the inside of the S-foils between the engines isn't sculpted at all - odd because the engine intakes are sculpted and painted very nicely. The cockpit looks like it opens, but it's glued down and there's no interior sculpting from what I can see. BB-8 sticks out the top, doesn't rotate or remove, but still is nice to see. It's nearly all die-cast, which is great, but no stand which is less than ideal. For $10, it's not a bad buy but it's one you'll want to hit the Disney Store or Park up for getting the best one.

Plus, it has McQuarrie cred, since it's obvious that's where they took the inspiration from.

It looks like they're never gonna get anything but the Resistance X-wing and Elite TIE/sf Fighter, I went back several times since my last post and that's all they've had from the series.

I replaced my X-wing at the park only to pick one up with a glue stringer and S-foils that don't close all the way, but it's the best I'mm gonna do.

I picked up the Elite TIE/sf on Friday, and where the X-wing fell flat in the sculpt, the TIE/sf hits it hard. I went through a lot looking for good paint on the wings and chin guns, did the best I could. The thing's biggest drawback is the wings are slightly loose so they rotate about 3 degrees either way. Other than that though, great sculpting (except the bottom turret which they undersized so they could leave a part of that bottom piece sculpt), very nice deco, nice antennae. Most of it is metal, the rings inside the wings are plastic as are the canopy, and top and bottom caps of the cockpit. Paint around the outboard engines is good. Where the Hasbro Titanium is dark gray, this is black so the rear window isn't painted and doesn't stand out as well, but the wings are slightly lighter gray which stands out well against the black. All in all, $10 ($8 with my discount) is decent.
