Everyone was expecting some big Star Wars news yesterday, on May the Fourth, but we had to wait until Cinco de Mayo to discover that after a long, massive search Alden Ehrenreich has nabbed the coveted (and contentious!) role of a young Han Solo in Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s spin-off movie.
Ehrenreich has a short C.V., but lassoed his way into the hearts of moviegoers earlier this year with his charming, scene-stealing turn as cowboy actor Hobie Doyle in Hail, Caesar!. This charming bit of comedic dialogue with Ralph Fiennes was enough to pull focus even from a tap-dancing Channing Tatum. No easy feat.
